There aren’t many fashion magazines that push the envelope and we’re sad to report that the masterminds behind two of our favorites have decided to call it quits.
Fashion editors Stephen Gan and Cecilia Dean, the founders of V and VMAN magazines, are parting ways, according to Page Six.
Gan and Dean have worked together for years at Fashion Media Group, the publisher of Visionaire, V, VMAN and Carine Roitfeld’s newest project, CR Fashion Book. An unnamed source told Page Six that Dean believed Gan was dedicating too much time to CR Fashion Book, of which he is Creative Director, and not enough to V, where he serves as editor-in-chief.
Yet according to Gan, CR Fashion Book has been more successful than any other magazine that he’s been a part of, so it makes sense that he would be dedicating the majority of his time to its success. “CR Fashion Book has been profitable since day one,” he says. “Unlike most magazines founded in the past [few] years, it covered the initial investment by the time the first issue hit newsstands.”
Hopefully this professional breakup won’t have a negative impact on the magazines that we’ve grown to love. Page Six reported that it was unclear at this time what impact the split would have on the magazines they collaborate on.
